Learn How to Take Digital Photographs

So you want to learn how to take digital photographs. Well, if you've been taking regular photographs in the past then you pretty much have the basics down. Most of the fundamentals of regular photography apply to digital photography.
Checking your light, framing and understanding what makes a great picture are lessons that will never go out of style and will never lose value. Digital photography is simply taking the age-old practice of photography and transferring it to a new and more convenient medium. You won't become a better photographer by getting a digital camera but if you are already a good photographer you will have new opportunities opened up to you that allow you to take your pictures to the next level.
Perhaps one of the most important aspects of digital photography is getting to know your camera. This can only be accomplished by thoroughly looking at your camera's user manual, and then supplementing the information with things you have learned on the Internet. Remember that thick book that came with your camera is there for a reason, so don't ignore it.
Once you feel you have absorbed all the information you can from your camera's manual it is now time to start experimenting. Take your camera off of its automatic settings and start using all the features that you paid for. If you find yourself unsure about what you should be doing revisit the manual and try again.
If you're still not sure just take the picture anyway. That's the beauty of digital photography; no film costs. There is no cost for taking additional pictures. So experiment to your heart's content. The best way to learn how to take digital photographs is to simply do it. There is no substitute for experience, and the more you take those pictures the better your pictures will become. by geoff white
